My Father
Oh life, can you be kinder with your gifts,
Just like my father, whose love never shifts.
Even when his pockets were empty and bare,
He gave, without a moment of despair.
I have seen him laugh through the hardest days,
His strength is unspoken, just like his silent ways.
No wealth in hand, but a heart so wide,
He made sure his love would never hide.
Oh Life, I ask you to learn from my father now,
Grant with grace, show me how.
For in this world, I have never seen,
A soul as selfless, or love so keen.
I’ve searched the faces, but none to compare,
To the man who gave, even when nothing was there.
In his footsteps, I walk, trying to see,
How to love, how to give so selflessly.
