When Letting Go is the Only Way | A Romantic Poem by Touha Khan

Baby, let's cut the tension, I’m hanging by a thread,
Maybe this was something, but now it's wearing thin,
And pretending any longer would be the cruelest sin.
We've spun in circles long enough, too many words unsaid.

We've built this fragile tower on hope that’s fading fast,
Trying to hold on to a love that wasn’t meant to last.
I see it in the distance, the space that’s grown between,
A truth we both ignore but know all too well, unseen.

So maybe it’s nothing, a spark that couldn’t survive,
Or perhaps it was everything, but we couldn’t keep it alive.
Either way, I can feel it, the end creeping in,
No more holding on, no more trying to win.

We can’t go back to friends, not after all we shared,
That kind of love leaves marks and I can’t pretend to care.
It’s better to let go than stay tethered in this lie,
So, baby, let’s cut the thread, and let this love die.
